Whether you are a first time visitor or an old friend, WELCOME to St Andrews. Worship is the starting point for our ministries and missions. It is where we are encouraged, inspired, and moved to live lives that reflect God’s love. There are many opportunities for worship and service St Andrews and we hope you find your place here with us.
The Sunday Early Service is held at 9:30 a.m. in the Activity Center. This is a small, intimate, contemporary service. The traditional service is at 11:00 a.m. in
the Sanctuary. The Sacrament of Holy Communion is served every first Sunday in both services. Fifth Sunday is a combined service of song followed by a covered dish.
Members of the church will be at each door to greet you and provide directions to the nursery for your children, or to direct you into the Activity Center for the 9:30 service or the Sanctuary for the 11:00 service. Ushers will provide you an Order of Worship bulletin and show you to a seat or you may seat yourself where you feel comfortable. During both services we have a special “Children’s Time” when all of the children are invited to come forward to join the Children’s Minister at the front of the church to hear a special message just for them.
You are also invited to Coffee before the 9:30 a.m. service. No refreshments are allowed in the Sanctuary. For more information on other services held at St Andrews, see below:
Baptism Baptism is a sign of “the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Baptism is also the act of entrance into the Christian fellowship. By baptism we are initiated into Christ’s Holy Church and marked as disciples (learners and followers) of Jesus Christ. Baptism brings a child into preparatory membership in the church. Baptism of an adult is typically followed by entry into full church membership by Profession of Faith. Youth and adults may receive Christian baptism after meeting with our pastors.
For a child’s baptism, parents are asked to call the church office to schedule the child’s baptism and an appointment to visit with the officiating pastor to discuss the specifics of the service. Call the church office at 256-734-0340 for information or to schedule a baptism.
Funeral, Memorial Services and Celebrations of Life A Christian funeral or memorial service is an opportunity for people to gather in faith to praise God and celebrate the gift of life. It is also an opportunity to ask God for strength and courage to accept death. The pastors offer their presence at any time of crisis and especially when death is imminent or has occurred.
Funeral arrangements are made with the help of the pastor before information is given to the press and before the funeral director proceeds with plans. We understand and share your personal grief and strive to make this service respectful and memorial of your loved one. The Fellowship Hall may be reserved for receiving and greeting friends before or after the service and for a luncheon if you desire. There are no charges for the use of the sanctuary or chapel for funeral or memorial services. Each year, in November, a special Celebration of Life Worship Service is held honoring all those who have passed during the year. Roses and candles are placed on the altar in their memory.
The Season of Advent and Christmas The Christian Calendar year begins with the season of Advent, which starts on the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day and ends on Christmas Eve. It is a season of preparation and hope, and the time when we prepare our homes and hearts to celebrate the birth of Christ, our promised Savior.
The Season of Lent and Easter Ash Wednesday, seven Wednesdays before Easter is typically known as the first day of the Lenten Season. This service is held in the Sanctuary and includes Holy Communion and the “imposition of ashes.” Call the church office for time of service(s). Maundy Thursday Communion Service is held at 7:00 p.m. the Thursday before Easter. Good Friday Service
Easter Sunday offers two Easter celebration Communion Services at 8:30 a.m. and at 11:00 a.m.
Choir and or praise team special performances may be held throughout the year. Special emphasis is given to Christmas and Easter.
